Program Note:
Burlesquing opens with fast, driving syncopations for the whole ensemble, but they're quickly followed by a cheeky, quiet echo. A saucy, Gershwin-like melody then appears, played by a solo tenor saxophone who slyly meanders under dry, rhythmic accompaniment. After a middle section featuring lyrical call-and-response solos for every instrument, the sassy melody reappears with even more vigor and intensity. Lasting just three minutes, Burlesquing is a fast-track, colorful fun ride!
